Warner Bros. Japan announced that Nobuhiro Watsuki’s Rurouni Kenshin will get two more live-action films which will premiere in summer 2020.
The two films will cover the Jinchuu Arc which means we will see both the flash-back to Kenshin’s time as Hitokiri Battousai leading up to how he obtained his cross-shaped scar, and his final battle with Enishi Yukishiro. This arc was never adapted into the anime series, but was the inspiration for the OVAs Trust and Betrayal – which took the flash-back part of the Jinchuu Arc and made it into its own story, and Reflections – whose first part was based on the general events of the Arc up to the battle with Enishi (and then diverged wildly after).

It was previously revealed in September 2017 that a new live-action film adaptation was being planned. No official news was released since. Takeru Sato returns as Kenshin Himura, and Keishi Otomo is also coming back to direct the two films.
All three Rurouni Kenshin live-action films did extremely well both in Japan and in the Philippines where it was screened exclusively by SM Cinemas originally on a limited run only, but was extended due to popular demand. The sequel Kyoto Inferno, had its Asian premiere in the country, graced by the presence of lead actors Sato, Emi Takei, and Munetaka Aoki.
