AMD Ryzen 3000 series processors’ specs have been listed ahead of launch by Russian ratiler e-Katalog. The site goes into details which SKUs will be available and some details about core configurations and speeds of the chips.
The new Ryzen 3000 series CPUs will be built on the 7nm Zen2 architecture announced a few months ago and will be the Zen2 consumer product debut. The chips listed are as follows
AMD Ryzen 3000 Specifications
The website lists 5 launch SKUs including a Ryzen 9 model, two Ryzen 7 SKUs and two Ryzen 5 SKUs. The listing also goes on to list supposed core counts and frequencies of the CPUs as well as their TDP.
Model | Ryzen 9 | Ryzen 7 | Ryzen 7 | Ryzen 5 | Ryzen 5 |
Core Count | 16 cores | 12 cores | 12 cores | 8 cores | 8 cores |
Thread Count | 32 threads | 24 threads | 24 threads | 16 threads | 16 threads |
Base Frequency | 3.9 Ghz | 4.2 Ghz | 3.8 Ghz | 4 Ghz | 3.6 Ghz |
TurboBoost / TurboCore | 4.7 Ghz | 5 Ghz | 4.6 Ghz | 4.8 Ghz | 4.4 Ghz |
TDP | 125 W | 105 W | 95 W | 95 W | 65 W |
Clock Multiplier | 39 | 42 | 38 | 40 | 36 |
It was expected that AMD will be introducing core clock boosts with the new 7nm-based Matisse CPUs but the Ryzen 9 and Ryzen 7 are quite surprising releases with the AMD Ryzen 9 introducing 16 cores to mainstream desktops while the Ryzen 7 3700X has a TurboCore clock of 5 ghz out of the box
The Ryzen 9 3900X has a TDP of 125W while the Ryzen 7 3700X at 105W. The non-X Ryzen 7 3700 meanwhile has a 95W TDP similar to the Ryzen 5 3600X which is an 8-core part but boasts a 4.8Ghz turbo clock
If the information is correct, we will be seeing AMD going with 8-cores for its mainstream offering with the Ryzen 5s while the Ryzen 7 will now sit on upper mainstream with 12 cores. Bridging the gap between HEDT and extreme MSDT is the Ryzen 9 which much like the Intel Core i9 9900K, competes with their own HEDT brothers. The new parts will be compatible with AMD’s AM4 socket and is expected to launch with a new chipset (X570?)
Pricing has not yet been revealed but if AMD chooses to increases prices, they can easily do so provided the launch benchmarks for the Ryzen 3000 chips provide a good competition to Intel’s current crop of products.
CES 2019 will be held this coming week at Las Vegas where AMD along with other industry giants are set to make announcements including the AMD Ryzen 3000 CPUs.
