A recent Reuters report cites that Samsung Electronics has won a bid to manufacture NVIDIA’s next-generation GPUs as mentioned in the South Korean newspaper Chosun Biz. The report states that Samsung will be creating 14nm GPUs using its manufacturing technology.
This suggests that NVIDIA will not be skipping 14nm and jump straight to 10nm. As efficient as it is right now, seems like NVIDIA thinks Pascal can still be more efficient. This could mean two things: a) a die-shrink of current Pascal GPUs or b) new GPUs for currently unreleased Pascal GPUs.
Samsung is stated to start production by the end of 2016 for NVIDIA.
