In a recent move after the hearing of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) which was held in Makati last Wednesday, regarding the proposed broadband cap of internet services by Telecommunication Companies. The NTC has scrapped the proposal of the cap after the public went up in outrage for the proposition.
In the inquirer post about the move, the NTC has said that the “The cap on the amount of data that users can download, would only hamper the industryรขโฌ™s growth.”
According to NTC Deputy Commissioner Jaime Flores รขโฌลWeรขโฌ™ve removed this provision to make the discussion on the issue more lively. The provision was counterproductive to increasing Internet usage in the country,รขโฌย
It seems that this time around the NTC has listened to their better judgement and to the public. Hopefully further talks on the matter would make the country’s internet service better. Now I’m really hoping that telcos would finally do their job instead of sucking money out of us.
This would mean the future is turning out for the better for online gaming in the country. However I’m still keeping an eye on the talks since this is just one hurdle that was dealt with.

Hi. would like to know if the what is the final decision regarding bandwidth cap. thanks.
Hi erwing2007. From what we know, the bandwidth cap clause was entirely scrapped.รย
From what I hear, service provider still cap their users though after a certain amount of data has been downloaded. Wi-Tribe and Globe users often complain of having their speeds throttled after reaching their caps.รย
