Sony has announced in a recently concluded investors conference call that the company is currently working on the Playstation 3 successor.
According to Sony Executive vice president and chief financial officer Masaru Kato that the company is currently investing a lot on the development of the console that will soon follow after the PS3.
This latest news comes after the announcement that Nintendo will unveil it’s upcoming console, “Project Cafe” console this E3 2011. Speculation has risen that this may be too early for a PS4 to even be developed.
Even Kazuo Hirai, President of Sony expressed last March that the PS3 wouldn’t even bite the dust till 2016, with the console coming out later than the Xbox.
However it seems that Sony is now singing a different tune with the recent news that Microsoft has released prototype development kits for their next-gen Xbox console.
With that said, it would seem that Sony would lag terribly behind it’s two main competitors if it didn’t push forward with it’s own “next-gen” console development.
