Rial Polog Jr becomes the first two-time Asia Tournament Champion
Rial Polog Jr. of the Philippines was crowned NBA 2K19 Asia Tournament champion on Saturday, 2nd March after overcoming fellow Filipino Clarke Banzon in a nail-biting final that went to double overtime. South Koreas Lee Myunghae claimed third place over Hong Kongs Lee Chun Yin, a first for South Korea in the tournament.
“It is a surreal feeling! I still cannot believe that it happened, definitely the toughest road I had to take and the toughest game of my life,” said Polog Jr., who became the first two-time NBA 2K19 Asia Tournament champion. “This was all possible due to the support of my family and friends.”
Touted as pre-tournament favorites, the Philippines emerged as four-time consecutive champions at the Trinoma Activity Center. Representatives from Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan were also present in Manila for the finals, which were held in the Philippines for the first time.
This years tournament was played using NBA 2K19s MyTEAM Mode for the very first time. This mode allows you to build your own dream team with NBA legends and players past and present, and gives players the ability to customize their team’s jerseys and courts. Players can build their MyTeam from a combination of thirteen Player Cards from their MyTeam Collection, subject to some card tier limitations. The tournament was played exclusively on PlayStation4 (PS4) and featured a prize pool of US$10,000.
NBA 2K19 is now available on PS4® system, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC platforms.
