Ubisoft finally confirms that there are plans to make 3D films based on their Assasin’s Creed, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell franchises. So expect Ezio Auditore, Sam Fisher and The hosts to come into the big screen in the same way as Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy went out of their Video game boxes (ie. RE Degeneration and RE damnation).
Ubisoft Motion Pictures will work hand in hand with Ubisoft’s gaming wing in an effort to make the various movie titles stay true to the it’s game roots. The reason behind keeping these titles close to home is that they want to bolster the appeal for the franchises instead of “diversifying” according to Jean di Rivieres:
“Our strategy is not to diversify but to bolster the appeal of our franchises, that’s why we want to make sure our films will reflect the brands accurately and consolidate our fan base while expanding beyond the games’ primary target audience.”
It’s expected that one of scripts would be done by the end of 2011.
Hopefully these movies would be better than the hi-jacked Uncharted movie that we (as gamers) love to hate.
