“The Last of Us Part II” is slowly inching towards its release date, and people are rightly excited about it. Pre-order numbers are still high despite a huge leak that spoiled some crucial plot points, as well as the current situation due to the global pandemic.
This highly anticipated sequel to Naughty Dogโs original award-winning 2013 game, “The Last of Us” is set five years after the dangerous journey of Ellie and Joel across the United States, having settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability, despite the constant threat of the infected and other, more desperate survivors.
When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure. As she hunts those responsible one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.
Back2Gaming.com is still in the thick of things with the game, and we are reserving our complete impressions of the game in our upcoming review. But for now, we can at least talk about one specific section of the game which happened in Seattle. This was the area shown on the State of Play trailer showing Ellie looking for a girl named Nora in the ruins of a hospital. Check out the whole video below.
My approach when I played this level was somewhat different, but it is a good place to demonstrate Ellie’s skills. Brought to life by the latest iteration of the Naughty Dog engine, the deadly characters and world are more realistic and meticulously detailed than ever before.
“Realistic” and “detailed” ain’t even the half of it. As you might expect, there are a lot of subtleties to this game that makes the dark darker and the scary scarier. Players who played the first game will find themselves in familiar territory. But as illustrated in the video, improvements on the gameplay system bring to life Ellie’s desperate life and death struggle to survive.
So any approach will have to take into consideration things like ammo, risk versus reward of going Rambo, and looking for supplies versus going to your next objective.
The much anticipated PlayStation 4 exclusive “The Last of Us Part II” is defying the troubling times by maintaining high consumer interest, and rightly so as the game is turning out to be one of the finest to ever come out on the Sony console. Watch out for our full review coming to you next week.
