ASUS has been very consistent in keeping us updated with their products in the enthusiast segment. A couple of months back we checked out one of ASUS’ top of the line Z77 boards, the ROG line’s finest mATX board: the Maximus V GENE. We walked away very impressed with the product ultimately giving it a Gold award for a fine combination of everything we want on a board. We mentioned that the Maximus V line featured 3 variants and as the year comes to a close we finally managed to get our hands on the mainstream model of the ROG Z77 line, the Maximus V Formula. This is the last Z77 and the last motherboard we’ll be reviewing for the year, so let’s make this extremely showy!
We usually put the obligatory company info or other related content in this segment of our reviews but we’ll make this short and sweet. We all know who and what ASUS is. As with any company, ASUS has a distinct line of products targeted at enthusiasts who demand utmost perfection and in ASUS’ case, we have the Republic of Gamers (ROG.) The ROG series are pure-breed products, mixing gaming aggression with world-class enthusiast features. We’re certainly not fond of the idea that gamers = overclockers but in my situation, I’m one and the same so I digress. Still, ASUS covers both bases. Going back to what we have for today, we’re back with our last Z77 motherboard for the year 2012 and maybe our last motherboard review of the year so we’re really glad we can have the ROG Maximus V Formula give us this honor. Let’s check out some images and get on with testing.
