Introduction
A top-tier gaming mouse is only as good as the surface it glides on. While we recently put the incredibly rigid and precise Corsair Sabre v2 Pro Wireless MG through its paces, a mouse that light and fast requires a surface that can reliably rein it in. Enter the Corsair MM Pro Control (Large/Black).
Marketed as an esports-tuned cloth mouse pad built for precision, the MM Pro Control steps away from the ultra-fast, friction-less trend to offer something tactical shooters and low-DPI flick-aimers desperately need: pure stopping power. Let’s see if this pad provides the necessary friction to elevate your aiming consistency.

Closer Look
Our sample is the Corsair MM Pro Control (Large) in black. Corsair ships it in its signature black and yellow packaging with a small cutout so potential buyers can feel the surface before they decide.
Aesthetically, the Corsair MM Pro Control is strictly business. Dressed entirely in black, it shuns RGB borders and loud, distracting graphics in favor of a stealthy, minimalist profile that fits perfectly into any workstation or competitive setup. The only visual flair is a subtle Corsair logo, kept intentionally out of the primary glide path.
Running your hand across the surface reveals the “Control” namesake. The woven cloth has a distinct, textured micro-weave. It isn’t abrasive, but it possesses a deliberate, tactile feedback that you simply don’t get from speed pads or hard surfaces. The perimeter is locked down with tight, uniform anti-fray stitching that sits flush with the pad, ensuring your forearm doesn’t catch on the edges during vertical aiming adjustments. Underneath, the plush rubber base is dense enough to iron out minor desk imperfections while locking the pad completely in place.
User Experience and Final Thoughts
The main workhorse feature of the Corsair MM Pro Control is its PU base. It’s extremely grippy without the typical coated base of a more traditional mouse pad. On standard desk surfaces, the MM Pro Control is planted in place once you put it down, but it releases just as easily, so you’ll never think about it.
Other than that, the surface is definitely subjective. If you’re more in-tune with your mice, you would know what type of surface you want, but for a general audience, the grittier surface is definitely intended for a “control” feel, offsetting it with a more precise mouse setting it the intended way of using this mouse pad.
Outside of that, anyone who just needs a mouse can definitely use this if you need a mousing surface that is locked in place, even with full arm swiping. There is still a premium for entry, and that may be too much for some, but for those who want that extra assurance, it beats out the glass option in a lot of ways.
