A lot of us have had their laptops for a good while now and there will always come a time, especially for those who are always on the go, that our AC adapters get really worn out. This goes double for those folks that use their laptops as real work horses, keeping them plugged in and using the good ol’ “always plugged in, battery removed” method to basically have their laptops serve as desktops. This really puts a strain on the laptop adapter either by really stressing it from usage or from the constant removable. I’ve had many folks ask for a replacement option and its almost always a sure response from me to refer them to the official parts for maximum compatibility but there’s always another option out there. Today we have the Huntkey Universal Laptop Adapter ES, available in 65w and 90w models, which offers a solid option for those looking for safe alternative to expensive, official replacement parts.

There are a couple of variants of this product available and this is the model we have denoted by the packaging details.
The package content is pretty straight forward: we got the main universal adapter unit, an AC cord, a manual and the 8 tips for various laptop models.
The tips are connected in an L-type fashion and goes in the main cable via male-female connection. The connection only goes in one way and there’s a notch that lines up the proper side so you don’t push it in wrong.
Shot of the other side of the main unit. The Huntkey Universal Laptop Adapter is auto-voltage and will work from 100-240V input and is compatible with laptops up to 20V.
Here are the 8 connector tips available. These tips vary in sizes and are intended for most notebooks with non-proprietary adaptors.
User Experience & Conclusion
Compatibility is the main consideration for this product and we had a couple of units tested with the Huntkey universal laptop adapter and while most of the brands mentioned in the manual are mostly mainstream ones like HP, Toshiba, Compaq and Dell we’ve had good luck making the unit work with out MSI demo unit we had a couple of months back that ran on a 65w power supply. So switching between our MSI gaming notebook and a lowly NEO notebook just to see how the Huntkey universal laptop adapter would cope up, it didn’t show any signs of unstable power or intermittent supply. We measured the draw from the outlet just to see we’re not drawing too much or too little and we were well within expected numbers. We can’t really say much for charge time as it will vary from notebook models but expect to see minimal difference from your original one.
Overall, the Huntkey Universal Laptop Adapter ES is an affordable replacement option that’s also well-built and has good compatibility. If you’re needing more power, there’s a 90W model available for higher power notebooks. If you’re looking for a replacement adapter for laptop, the Huntkey universal laptop adapter ES is a far-cry from the generic ones you’ll find at CDRKING therefore we highly recommend it.
We’ve yet to confirm the actual manufacturer’s warranty length for this device but the local options have them at 1-year. We give the Huntkey Universal Laptop Adapter ES our B2G Recommended Seal.
