Members leaving the group is a common occurence in the idol industry. Being an idol isn’t for everyone, and it’s not some “after-school” activity that some fans think it to be. Not many girls can handle the stress and demands of the job, the training, the lack of privacy and intrusion of the fans, the rumor-mongering, the unrealistic demands of the fans, and a management who seems to love making twists for the sake of it.

A lot is hanging on this Sunday’s Fan Meet. MNL48 has to pull this off if only to show that they can produce a solid and entertaining event worthy of the 48 brand name. To put it simply, their first major challenge as idols.
This event is a litmus test: to see if the J-idol type event will work when access is restricted to paying customers. It is as much an event for the fans as it is testing unchartered waters since, you know, professional idols aren’t supposed to give our fix for free.
MNL48’s first official activity as a group is a fan meet for its fans. A spacious, air-conditioned venue, fun activities, merchandise, and the group’s first performance makes this event something to look forward to.
