With a series of bad turns within the games industry in a global scale, it seems that the Philippine gaming scene also experienced it’s latest death in the form of a termination of service for Amped.ph.
The news of ABS-CBN’s online gaming department’s imminent demise came out yesterday afternoon on it’s official website. The post, citing “unfavorable business conditions” was the culprit for the company ceasing operations by mid 2013.
Typical to most announcements, fans of the various games handled by Amped took to the comments citing their utmost distaste for the sudden end of operations for their beloved games:
But regardless of whatever complaints the players have, that is the end of that. It had been a good run Amped, though sadly I must say that you handled Tantra poorly (because the addition of the GM items broke an otherwise fun game to play) but then again, the developers of the game practically let it all go when the game went global anyway so might as well rake in the money from that game as much as you can.
There has no details yet on how the Amped is going to compensate it’s loyal base but the date the axe will fall has been set. On May 31, 2013 Amped is no more.
And another one bites the dust …
