Intel’s VP and GM for Visual Compute Group recently posted a blog in the Intel site that address specific questions about Intel Arc graphics. The questions were primarily on the status of the product and why we have not been seeing the Arc GPU on laptops despite already having been launched.
Pearce responded to this by citing COVID lockdowns as the leading cause which limits their supply chain. The next questions she address was regarding the availability of Intel Arc desktop GPUs to which she stated that China would receive the first A3 shipments for system builders and OEMs.
Following this, Intel will roll out the A5 and A7 desktop GPUs to OEMs as well followed by global channels soonafter.
The main takeaway here is that Intel could be looking to gauge demand while building up supply to benchmark market demand. The decision to go with OEM and system partners should also give Intel a strong feel on how their more profitable market would respond before they proceed to retail.
The last question was regarding driver optimizations.
