Max Payne, Battle Realms, and Prince of Persia: Warrior Within are some of the unforgettable PC games I played during my college days. They were from a time when innovation was still a common thing among game developers. However, despite all the great PC games during those days, PC gamers are confined to using Windows. Those who are on a very tight budget are forced to use an illegal copy of Windows just so they can play the PC games they want.
Today, PC gamers have a choice. If you cannot or do not want to spend for an OS, you can use Linux for gaming. Playing games on Linux has improved a lot since Valve released Steam on Linux last February 14, 2013. No more messing around with WINE which is a frustrating experience for some. More high quality games are coming to Linux every year and it made using Linux for gaming more viable.
The list below shows the great PC games available today on both Linux and Windows. It will be updated regularly as more cross-platform PC games become available.
