It’s par for the course for pretty much all of us to reflect on the year that was and look forward to the next one. The same goes for Intel Philippines, as they took a look back on 2013 and laid out their plans for 2014 at a media event held last Tuesday, December 10th at the Romulo Café in Makati
The event was spearheaded by Intel Philippines head Calum Chisholm, with an introduction by local marketing head Randy Kanapi. The main presentation itself was split into two parts, with Calum Chisholm walking the attendees through the processing giant’s achievements over this past year and revealing Intel Philippines’ goals for the next one.
For 2013, the points presented were: changing the PC landscape, big data, and enabling tomorrow’s innovators. Elaborating on that list, Calum Chisholm proudly stated that Intel has been making massive strides in shaping how we go about with daily computing, the importance of big data in business, and helping today’s youth realize their ambitions. Intel’s contribution to Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda relief efforts were also touched upon during this half of the presentation.
As for predictions for the incoming year, Mr. Chisholm harped on increased connectivity, the continuing integration of digital technology in education through literacy programs, devices further meeting consumers’ needs, and the continued rise of big data.
Of course, we couldn’t leave out the gaming aspect in all of this. Over the past year, Intel has been establishing partnerships with the likes of Garena and various sectors of the gaming community. For 2014, they plan to take it even further, when asked about it during the event’s Q&A session.
