Yes you read it right, the notorious underground racer title of EA is getting the big screen treatment by the company who apparently is branching out of it’s GP roots. Dreamworks studios had acquired feature film rights of the Need for Speed franchise last month. George (She’s out of my league) and John Gatins (kingpin in Real steel; writer- Coach Carter) is set to write the screenplay. Currently details are yet sketchy as to what exactly will the Gatins brothers will use as material for the film. Will it be like Fast and the Furious? Or would it be another misguided big screen adaptation similar, to say, the legend of chun li?
So currently, everything is up in the air as of the moment but we’ll keep an eye out on this. The date of release for the film is set to February 7, 2014.
