The official trailer for Amazon’s Fallout live-action series has just been revealed and if the trailer is anything to go by, its a nice indication of how loyal the show is when it comes to details from the video game franchise. Arriving on Prime Video on April 11, 1 day earlier than the original April 12 launch and the debut will also include the entire season so you can go on a Vault-like seclusion and binge the entire season in one go.
The show stars Ella Purcell (that annoying girl from Netflix’s Army of the Dead, Batista’s kid in the movie lol), Walton Goggins as the Vault-tec ad presenter that turned to a Ghoul once the bombs dropped. Goggins recent big production roles are 2018’s Tomb Raider starrring Alicia Vikander and Ant-Man and the Wasp as that buyer in the restaurant, Sonny Burch. Another notable actor in the mix is Kyle Maclachlan as the MC’s Vault Overseer.
The show will be based off of Bethesda’s Fallout series with the most recent release being Fallout 76 from 2018, which was preceded by Fallout 4, and the universally loved Fallout 3 and its spin-off Fallout: New Vegas. The show has been said to borrow elements from the series as whole but is not a retelling of any of the previously released games’ plot. The show will be centered around post-apocalyptic Los Angeles and its yet to be revealed if the show will align with the games’ lore of referring to LA as the Boneyard and is canon to the entire Fallout game franchise.
The trailer shows us many of the hallmarks of Fallout lore including the Vault dwellers featuring our protagonist. Then there’s ghouls, the Brotherhood of Steel, and various factions.
Some fun tidbits here is that they included a bear fighting a Brotherhood of Steel (Knight?) can be seen fighting a bear in the trailer, possibly a little homage to California being the National California Republic in the game (NCR) which bears the two-headed bear on their flag.
If you’re a fan of the series, you’ll probably pick out a detail or two as well. Check it once it drops on Prime Video on April 11, 2024.
