There’s No Escape From This Portal Fan Film
0This amazing fan-made film based on Valve’s Portal games has been making the rounds for the past day or two, and it’s about time we put it here, too. Portal: No Escape is directed by Dan Trachtenberg of The Totally Rad Show fame and stars TV actress Danielle Rayne as series protagonist, Chell. As for the film itself, you gotta say that it’s excellently put together, moody, atmospheric, and manages to get on by with little to no dialog. The portal effects and how the gun is used are pretty spot on, and it doesn’t hurt that the music’s pretty good too.
Whether you’re a fan of the games or not, do check it out anyway.

Team Mineski.Infinity Still on the Race for First Ever Dota 2 Crown

Don’t count the Philippine Team out just yet.
The PH representatives for the Dota 2 competition being held at Cologne Germany during this year’s Gamescom is still alive and kicking. Team Mineski.Infinity, was able to stave off elimination against team Ok.Nirvana.cn of China. It would seem that Miniski.Infinity was already in a disadvantage but was able to save itself from elimination in what the Dota 2 Blog could only call as a “stunning upset”.
Gamescom 2011 Releases CG Trailer for Dota 2
0Gamescom 2011, the annual gaming event held at Cologne, Germany was the epicenter of one of the year’s biggest releases. Steam’s own take in the Massive Online Battle Arena genre, Dota 2. The CG trailer released at Gamescom featured a lot of familiar characters from the country’s currently most played network game. While the trailer didn’t show anything else aside from a merchant talking and some characters in action, it’s a good preparation in what we can expect from the art style of the game.
Incidentally, we also have a team sent to compete in the Dota 2 tournament with a million dollars as grand prize.

Retailers Demanding the Removal of Steam

I recently read an article that states retailers are demanding the removal of Steam from games or they will threaten to stop selling these games on their shelves. MCV reports that “High Street giants and Digital distributors” who are reacting to their steady loss against Valve’s digital distribution software, threatened to stop selling of Steam games.
