Okay so I’m back and showing my uber fail photoshop pic because I gotta tell you guys one idea I had for the blog. Since this is a blog that puts Video Games to the “that matters” pedestal (I actually could’ve gone with important instead of the wordy adjective) I decided to do a special series that is related to video games.
Now we all know that video gaming, if unchecked can in fact destroy careers (studies mostly since a lot of the so-called “addicts” here in the country are students). So I wanted to focus on the other side of the coin.
I’m referring to the CAREER making side of the video games industry.
Yes, as gamers we’ve always wanted to be part of the industry we’ve grown to love. However the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to “video game career” is game dev. Which to be fair is the biggest area in terms of a “video game related career”.
However, I believe careers in the video games industry is more than just that. In fact, we can like it to the numerous job classes we find in the RPGs we play.
There is something for everyone in the video game’s industry…. Well, that’s what I want to believe in that is.
Now this is where this series or project comes in. I want to showcase the possible areas in the video games industry here in the country where one could work. I also want to this “series” to focus on the institutions that gives people “opportunities” to work in the video games industry.
As of this moment, I’m calling this the Industry In-Focus series. I would be focusing on companies who are willing enough to show what opportunities they can offer to anyone willing to work in an industry our parents would never have thought of jumping into. I’ll also be looking into schools and “institutions” that provide game dev classes since I’ve heard that universities are now starting (or have started) providing game dev classes to people interested.
I’ll also be looking into companies who may not be related to game dev. but are also into the game scene. So this is somewhat a smorgasbord of “opportunities” and whatnot and hopefully you readers can get something out of this.
Since my whole point in making this series is for you guys. The readers who may want to join the game industry as more than just a consumer.
So bear with me since I’m still preparing for this “baby project” of mine and hopefully before March (or Mid Feb) I can start posting about it.
Thanks!
