ESL One Manila is Philippines’ first ever major tournament in the field of eSports. The Philippines is one of many countries that has a large Dota 2 playerbase here in SEA. Teams competing for the championship title are Mineski, compLexity Gaming, Team Empire, Team Secret, Wings Gaming, eHome, Fnatic, and Team Liquid.
Mineski vs Complexity Gaming
To start off the tournament is a match between our very own Mineski against USA’s CompLexity Gaming. compLexity made a comeback with a 10k networth goldswing from 23:02 to the 37th minute of the game. Mineski didn’t let it happen in the second as the secure their victory thanks to Benhur’s Alchemist. Sadly, Mineski had a taste of their own medicine with compLexity not giving a comeback opening for Mineski.
Secret vs eHome
Secret completely annihilated eHome in their Bo3 match with 2 consecutive wins under the 25min game time! Arteezy(ART-EZ) surprised us in the first game with his Invoker that he only uses on its twitch stream. His hero on the second game was OD that recently had a bad performance in their match against team Empire which placed them in the lower bracket.
Puppey was interviewed after the match by Eri Neeman and was asked if he wanted to try our hardcore balut. Puppey commented on his new teammates performance, Arteezy and Universe. They performed well in their second series of games compared to yesterday’s team debut. To end it the interview, Puppey told how awesome the Filipino crowd was and how does that help team secret in their gameplay. Puppey also chose who had the best best facial expression while cheering from the VIP crowd. The short video can be watched here
Wings vs compLexity Gaming
compLexity advances to the quater finals as they defeat Mineski with a 2-1 record. Their next match was against Wings, the winner of the ESL One Manila China Qualifiers that defeated iG in the Qualifer finals. Complexity had a bad early game and had to turtle it to the late game in order for them to win. Wings Gaming on the second game didn’t give the space that compLexity needed thus ending both games in a sub-40min game mark.
Team Secret vs Team Empire
The final match for ESL One Manila Day One ended with a roller coaster of emotions as both teams played their best as if it was the Grand Finals. Secret had an aggressive early game with rotations and quick responses from the ganks of Team Empire that helped them win the first game of the series. The second game was in favor of Team Empire with the help of Ramzes666’s Spectre late game presence and KingR’s amazing plays turning the tide(literally) against team secret. With the series both tied 1-1, both teams had to adjust their play style and drafted a different set of heroes but Secret Ramzes666’s Slark had enough space to farm throughout the game to become a nuisance for team Secret which secured their slot in the semi-finals
