Did you ever have this amazing idea for a VR App that can change millions of lives? An idea that might be worth millions? Instead of dreaming about it all day, why not make that dream come true? How? Well thanks to VR PH in cooperation with Samsung, they give you, The Philippines’ first Gear VR Hackathon – The Philippine Mobile VR Jam 2016.
The Philippine Mobile VR Jam is a Virtual Reality hackathon that will bring togetherย brilliant minds to learn and collaborate on creating applications with immersive mobile virtualย reality technologies. Over the period of 42 hours, teams are tasked to create their own Virtualย Reality game or app for the Samsung Gear VR. It is open for all participants whether studentsย or professionals, artists or programmers. Its goal is to cultivate the development of localย Virtual Reality content in the Philippines and help define the future of the technology.

The event is co-presented by VR Philippines with Samsung and will be held on June 10-12, 2016 atย the 5th Floor Executive Boardroom of PLDT Innolab in Boni Avenue, Mandaluyong City.
Who can join?
The event is open to all participants, whether you are a student or professional, artist or programmer.ย Anyone with basic experience in making games or applications in Unity or Unreal are welcome to join! But since there will only be a limited number of devices, we’re limiting the VR Jam toย 10 teams of 5 members each.
So how does this go?
Well you can either register by yourself, or gather a team with a maximum of 5 members, and create a VR app using Unity and/or Unreal engine in a 42-hour period. If you don’t have a team, don’t worry! They will be partnering you with like-minded people at the event. And to entice developers to push their limits and show the best they can do within the 42-hour period,ย Samsungย will be giving awayย P50,000ย worth of gift certificates to the over-all winner, and 5 new Samsung GearVR units to winners of special awards.
