Team ROCCAT StarCraft II pro Ko “HyuN†Seok Hyun yesterday sealed victory over fellow Korean Kim “Oz†Hak Soo to be crowned WCS America Season 1 champion. Picking up his first major title since DreamHack Valencia 2013, the Zerg player had a tough route to the final, coming up against 2013’s most successful player, Yun “TaeJa†Young So, on the way. With $25,000USD on the line, the best-of-seven final saw HyuN emerge victorious in a thrilling encounter, taking four games to Oz’s two. Since signing for Team ROCCAT in February HyuN has relocated to Germany to focus his efforts entirely on gaming. He will be looking to repeat his success in the near future as he competes in the Copenhagen Games and DreamHack Bucharest, both of which take place this month.
“We are delighted with HyuN’s well-deserved WCS victory – these tense and dramatic matches are what competitive gaming is all aboutâ€, says ROCCAT founder and CEO René Korte.
This win feels sweet. I would like to thank my fans and also ROCCAT for supporting me and making victories like this possible.
