Razer has unveiled their latest version of their smartphone, the Razer Phone 2. Featuring similar physical styling to the original release, the Razer Phone 2 sports a 5.7 inch screen with 1440p resolution and features 120hz refresh rates and 120hz touch-sampling. Razer is very proud of this feature and claims to be the one and only true 120hz phone in the market with competition lacking the 120hz touch-sampling to fully achieve the experience.
Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan’s keynote on the release also details some of the specs further including the Qualcomm 845 processor and has 8GB of RAM with 512GB of internal storage. Min enthuses their new vapor chamber cooling technology. The Razer Phone 2 will also have an improved camera as well as camera software.
Moving over to the gaming side, the phone retains the front bezels and notchless design with Min citing that from an ergonomics standpoint, they cannot have a thin-bezel phone as they have designed the phone to be a gaming phone. Having no bezels forces gamers to play on the far edges of the phones making them harder to control. The bezels also feature 103db front-firing speakers, more powerful than the original 98db of the Razer Phone. Game partners for this release include Tencent for PUBG Mobile as well as NetMarble’s King of Fighters All-Star. Benchmarks performance shows the phone currently dominating three top benchmarks in the world right now.
Other features include wireless charging, Qualcomm QuickCharge 4, a 4000mAh battery, an RGB backlight. Razer has also developed a dedicated theme store as well as a version of their Cortex game launcher app for the Razer Phone 2.
Lastly, the Razer Phone 2 will sport an RGB logo back lighting. The wireless charging dock will also feature RGB as well and is sold separately.
The phone will come in two version: mirror and satin. The mirror version has a glossy glass back while the satin version has a matte finish. The mirror version will be the standard edition and will be available for pre-order later today. The satin version will be a Razer Store exclusive and will be available later in the year.
