Closer Look
Reminiscent of the other Tt eSports headset we’ve reviewed, we once again see them employing a clear window to let you view the product inside the package. Along with that is a glamor shot of the product in the front together with some of the features of the Cronos AD. In the back are more defined features and specifications of the Cronos AD. The package includes the Cronos AD gaming headset, a wire for mobile, a wire for PC with inline controller and an instruction manual. HEADSET STAND (Luxa2 E-One) FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY. NOT INCLUDED.
The Cronos AD comes in black with a touch of red in the headband and inner cup cushions. There’s more of that red later but let’s focus on other aesthetics such as the headband, where the Cronos AD utilizes dual-bands, similar to that of the Shock Spin. Its self-adjusting so no need to pull on the bands and worry about breakage due to weakening of the bands.
The Cronos AD’s build quality is quite exquisite and while its not as refined as other brands that use leatherette or velvet in their cushions, the mesh cushion of the Cronos AD still look good. The rest of the body is plastic and that may sound cheap, it isn’t and the overall feel of the headset is quite good. One little nitpick are those silver accents on the headband hinges. They’re really just there for cosmetic purposes and serve no real purpose than to look metallic.
The microphone tucks inside the left earcup when not in use and has a flexible boom for easy adjustments.
The Cronos AD uses detachable cables with a proprietary connector interface. As pictured prior, we’ve got two cables included in the Cronos AD and both of which attach to the left earcup as pictured above.
The PC connector for the Cronos AD has an extra USB head and its not for audio use but rather for power as the Cronos AD has illuminated rings around the earcups and microphone together with the Tt eSports dragon logo.
User Experience & Conclusion
We used a Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 5 RX and Playstation 4 for our tests. The Sennheiser GAME ONE headset was burned-in for 100 hours before we formed our conclusion.
Let’s start of with listening experience: the Cronos AD is bassy and that’s pretty much how Tt eSports’ house sound is shaping up to be with some products either a hit or miss on the overall quality department. In the case of the Cronos AD, it hits just the right spot with a good amount of bass balanced with a good presence of highs and mids. For music, this can be offputting for purists that want a flat listening experience but for games, this is the touted “preference” as it brings out the bass. This is completely subjective and totally up to you. The Cronos AD has good details overall and controlled bass, without noticeable rumble or distortion even on high gains.
Going over the comfort and wearability of the Cronos AD, we’d like to note first that its one light headset. It basically just rides with you and despite its deceptively large arch, its really light. The earcups and cushions are breathable and have a good feel to them but the cups don’t really form a perfect seal around your ear, so isolation isn’t 100% and there’s some leakage going through on a touch higher volumes.
Overall though, for its price of $69.99 there’s really something about the Tt eSports Cronos AD gaming headset that really sets it apart. While its gimmicky illumination may just be that for some folks, its really an alluring feature to have and really makes a desktop pop while on display. Audio quality is decent enough to satisfy many gamers who aren’t that picky about audio and the Cronos AD itself is quite easy to drive, not requiring a discrete audio card. This is proven when we used it on our PS4 and mobile phone which also shows just how flexible this headset is with the ability to go from PC gaming to console and on mobile.
