Packaging –Â ALSEYE CLS-200 LED Fan Strip RGB Kit
The packaging of the ALSEYE CLS-200 LED Fan Strip RGB Kit is outright plain and simple. The box highlights an image where the fans and the strips are already in use. Its main features are also highlighted at the front of the box.
One thing that instantly catches my attention though is the Strip Patent number. I went on ahead and did a research about the patent in the patent database of China. Fortunately, I found out what the patent is all about. The highlighted patent number simply trademarks the magnetic attachment of the LED strips and the waterproof design.
Unfortunately, I also found out that the patent is already discontinued. According to the contact person that helped me find the information about the patent, the manufacturer or the inventor are no longer paying the annual fee. It was a good patent though. Given that I prefer the magnetic attachment instead of a double-sided tape or 3M in that case.
The back of the box displays the included items inside and those are 2x 120mm RGB LED Fans, 2x RGB LED Magnetic Strips, 1x Remote Controller, 1x SATA Cable Power, and 1x Controller/Receiver/Hub.
The back also highlights some explanation about the remote control as well as its specification. On each side of the box, the specification for the fans and LED strips are displayed.
What’s Inside – ALSEYE CLS-200 LED Fan Strip RGB Kit
The package includes the following items:
- 2x RGB LED 120mm Fans with screws
- 2x Magnetic RGB LED Strips
- 1x Remote Control
- 1x Receiver/Controller
- 1x 3M Double Sided Tape
ALSEYE CLS-200 LED RGB Fan 120mm
The fan is 120mm by 120mm and has a thickness of 25mm. So that’s an important thing to note for those who have a small form factor case. The fan has two connectors, a 3pin and a non-fan standard connector 4pin for LED. You will have to attach the 4pin to the RF receiver for you to be able to control the colour and brightness of the LED. You can then attach the 3pin to the ports on the motherboard for fans.
Here are a few examples of the fun running with different LED colour. The fan exhibits that sharkoon effect that was popularized by many brands a few years back where non-RGB LED fans wasn’t still a thing.
The fans run at 1300+/-10% RPM and are capable of blowing 41.4CFM+/-10%. The performance of the fan is a bit on the low side but the fans are indeed designed for chassis use and not for CPU use. We couldn’t compare much or look deeper into the performance of the fans as we don’t have much high-end fans and tools to do a deeper review of the airflow of the fans.
ALSEYE CLS-200 LED RGB Magnetic Strips
By specification, these strips have 18 LEDs each. Each strip requires a DV 12V input. The strip has a length of 300mm and an extended cable length of 500mm. These strips feature a magnetic design, allowing you to attach it to any metallic surface. Giving you the freedom to remove and re-attach it to any metallic surface as much as you want. Unlike the typical double-sided 3M design.
Here’s a simple diagram of how the strips and the fans will work.
ALSEYE CLS-200 Remote Controller
From the remote controller alone, you will get the impression that the LED colours of the fan and the strips are limited to 16 different colours which it actually is. There are also 4 buttons that change the LED animation to 6 different modes.
The remote control has brightness control which is also the buttons to control the speed of the animation.
Performance –Â ALSEYE CLS-200 LED Fan Strip RGB Kit
Here’s a short video of how the LED of this kit works with the remote control. For this setup, I decided to mount the two fans at the front as intake and one strip attached magnetically at the top. Then I attached the other strips at the bottom of the case to give off that accent.
The performance of the LED is not that consistent. There is a few noticeable colour shading issues between the fans and the strips. Also, we noticed some LED are not consistent with the colour that you selected.
Final Thoughts…
Overall, the ALSEYE CLS-200 LED Fan Strip RGB Kit is a decent kit that gives you the option to add some RGB goodness to your PC without costing much. However, we did find out that this kit is more of an aesthetic upgrade and not so much in terms of the airflow performance.
The fans are definitely on the low side in terms of CFM performance. On typical scenario, an owner will definitely mount the fans on the fan mounts of the chassis and then, a dust filter will be added. So, if you use these fans as intake, the CFM performance will be much lower than the ratings given the decrease of CFM due to the addition of dust filters. But, it’ll definitely perform as rated of you orient the fans as exhaust.
The LED strips are lovable for us. We definitely like the magnetic attachment design instead of the usual 3M double sided design which can be messy and doesn’t allow much for mistakes.
