In Metal Gear Solid 3 we meet The Boss. In this game, we find out that the title “Boss” is an honor bestowed on the greatest fighters of history with Naked Snake eventually earning the greater title of Big Boss for defeating The Boss. That’s the romanticized form of title but is far from the real world definition of the title but that’s something I gravitated to hence the name I go by these days.
I wanted to share that bit because in a work setting, the distinction a boss and a leader can be very good or bad but the parallels of both is instrumental in what pushes a team to greater heights and just like in MGS3, the Cobra Unit’s undying loyalty to The Boss makes it so that her leadership skill is defined as well as her individual traits.
In this infographic, we’ll share some traits commonly attributed to the definition of a boss and a leader and while you can be one or the other, being “bossy” is infinitely the lowest honor a team may bestow upon you as an adjective. The infographic below gives us some of the traits and why they’re a great template into realizing who you are in a team. There are nuances here and there so read the descriptions of each trait to find out the difference between a boss and a leader.
