The video game nostalgia machine is making its final hurrah in some stores as Best Buy is putting the NES Classic back on sale after Nintendo announces its discontinuation just five months after launch. The NES Classic is a modern take on the granddaddy of video games from the late 80s and the release of the NES Classic, which modern gamers to play classic NES games on their big screen TVs, has been a nostalgic sensation which saw some go up for really high bids or users trying their luck on going around stores if there’s a chance of having the miniature wonder available. Trying your luck ain’t so bad though as some people have walked away with the NES Classic on chance visits and you can try your luck too in online casinos, see how far it takes you. You can find out more here.
Announced just two days ago, Best Buy says the NES Classic will up for sale on a first-come, first-serve basis with some stores using a ticketing system to facilitate buyers. The number of NES classic available are stated as unknown but the sure part here is that they are of “limited” quantities.
The NES Classic has been quite understocked and overpriced in most cases and this last announcement may be the only chance some gamers may have on getting these machines. No word from Nintendo if they are planning to release another version but as of right now, they are either rare or too expensive.
While the demand for the gaming system varies by region, in the US it has proven to be a hit and that results in the demand we’ve noted at the top but sadly the system has been announced as discontinued and as the official announcement from Nintendo goes, this latest sale from Best Buy may be the last shipment of NES Classics for the region. The announcement goes on to say that Nintendo appreciates the demand and feedback but does not go on to state any mention of a possible resumption or clarification if the discontinuation is a temporary or a permanent one. This also goes for the Japanese version aka the Famicom version of the NES Classic console.
The NES Classic Edition comes with a single NES controller, an HDMI cable and AC adapter out of the box and comes pre-installed with 30 classic NES games all optimized for modern displays.
Games that can be played on the NES classic include Megaman, the original Final Fantasy, Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros. 3, The Legend of Zelda and a whole lot more. You can find the announcement here:
