Closer Look
Let’s delve deeper into what actually goes on when using NVIDIA Geforce Experience. We will be using an GTX650M for testing and we will be looking at Far Cry 3 as a game example. First, let’s check out what goes on in the main optimization menu.
NVIDIA Geforce Experience works by cross-referencing your hardware configuration with optimal pre-defined configurations calculated by NVIDIA’s server. On our optimization sample, we can see that GFE recommends a higher Ambient Lighting setting. GFE shows a little preview of what changes to expect in-game and some information regarding the option in the little preview window below the options list.
NVIDIA Geforce Experience also factors in other graphic elements that usually we don’t much in caring about but that little extra detail can really change the experience especially when our system can take it. In this shot we have Geometry which sets how much detail is given to distant objects and so. GFE says we can go bump up the Geometry to High whilst the in-game optimal settings think otherwise.
Lastly we have Alpha to Coverage. One of the distinct visual elements of Far Cry 3 is its lush greenery and this graphic detail really helps make the foliage look much better. We can see that GFE suggests ENHANCED.
