Ubisoft just dropped its reveal trailer for the next major installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise with the trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. In a much awaited move, the game will finally take players to feudal Japan, allowing them to experience life as a ninja for the first time in the series.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is scheduled for release on November 15 for PC, Playstation and Xbox.
The trailer shows us our two new main characters for the game: Naoe who is a shinobi and wields the AC franchises iconic hidden blade, plus her own arsenal of weapon on top of her hand-to-hand combat skills. She is joined by Yasuke: mentioned in Japanese history as the first foreign-borne samurai, a retainer to the daimyo Oda Nobunaga. In the game, he weilds classic samurai loadouts. Shinobi and Samurai finally debut in Assassin’s Creed.
The trailer drops some bits and pieces of the story where we’re in 16th century Japan. The trailer is all in pre-rendered CG with Ubisoft promising a full gameplay trailer in June. As of now, we have no clue on the in-engine graphics of what or how Assassin’s Creed Shadow will look like. The game is developed by Ubisoft Quebec who also did Odyssey, which I am personally biased towards versus Valhalla.
Fans have been clamoring for a Japan-based installment to the AC franchise but during the initial era of the game, its going to be hard to connect it to the main over-arching lore of the game but with newer installments in the franchise now more open to exploring new settings, we’re now going to see the Leap of Faith from a pagoda in feudal Japan.
Once again, Assassin’s Creed Shadow launches for all major platforms this November 15 and is available now for pre-order.
