In addition to updates to maps, gameplay and new features in game modes, a significant part of players are interested in how knives look like in CS:GO 2, how much better or worse they are than in CS:GO. At Skin.Land you can find knives, rifles, pistols and buy CS:GO skins quickly and conveniently.
Realism and shadow play
It is clear that the old Counter-Strike for 10 years is quite tiresome for some players, and they want something new and unusual. Valve has certainly done a good job with the graphics. Knives now look very cool thanks to the new lighting and the game of light and shadow. If you look closely at the blade, you can see its texture on some models. In general, the knives in CS:GO 2 look more realistic than ever in Counter-Strike, and all this is achieved with the help of Source 2 engine.
But, of course, everything is not limited to praise, there are also dissatisfied voices. Among them stands out the opinion of Ceh9 (former NAVI player Arseniy Trinozhenko), who is very critical:
- ย ย New graphics, considering it childish and too bright.
- ย ย New knives and skins, calling them flat.
In turn, we hope that in this post you will look at the knife models yourself and form your own opinion on them.
The coolest colors
Of all the knife colorings we’ve seen, the red and emerald shades look the most interesting. Not only do they just have a great glow in the sun, but they have the greatest gradient and amount of color in the color transition from dark to light.
This is especially noticeable on the Doppler on the Bowie knife. Look closely at how the ruby hue at the edge of the blade transitions quite smoothly into an orange-blaze color closer to the base. And the sun hitting the blade makes it feel as if the knife is on fire or made up of fire.
Of course, on such knives in CS:GO 2 you can not childishly stick and sleep through the opponent’s attack. We also had a question about whether too strong glare from the blade will not blind the player and interfere with him during the roll. In principle, when KS GO was released, it also had a lot of “joints”, which were eventually fixed by Valve. We think that this time Valve will solve the problem in a similar way.
As for the emerald, it looks gorgeous on the Gamma Doppler Karambit. When you look at it, it looks like you’re holding not a knife, but a living stone: it’s not perfect, with dark spots, and it should be, because all living things are not perfect.
Minuses in knives in CS:GO 2
A real disappointment in the new Counter-Strike can be confidently called the skin “Waves” for the Navaja. This type of knife is not popular in the game, so, apparently, the developers decided not to bother with the transfer of skin from CS GO. And so not to bother, that the skin became even worse than it was.
If any of you remember, “Waves” in the former Counter-Strike beautifully and, most importantly, with the effect of volume went to black from dark blue color, on the way passing through greenish and silver shades. So, from this transition there is almost nothing left: dark blue goes into green, where you can barely guess the outlines of a silver spot (barely guessed), and then again goes into blue with black, ie a complete transition to black is no longer. What else is annoying: the knife in CS:GO 2 on the background of the map looks like a foreign body, unknown how it appeared in the middle of the magnificent buildings in oriental style.
And if you look at this skin from another angle, you can see a band of dark blue, then black and then blue again near the grip. A complete failure, in our opinion. There is only one hope for the community, for those players who love nawahi and convince Valve to fix it.
Gradient and marble gradient folding knife
In the new Counter-Strike, there are 2 knife colorings that we particularly like.
The first one is the gradient folding knife. It has a unique stunning transition from dark blue to golden orange through red and pink. What adds a special charm to the knife in CS:GO 2 is the smooth color change from the blade to the top. For example, notice that the area of red (the middle of the knife) near the blade is predominantly a dark red hue that changes to pink as you approach the opposite side.
This is probably one of the most beautiful knives in the new Counter-Strike with the exception of the Doppler, which we think is beyond competition.
The second one is a folding knife with a marble gradient. In it, our attention was attracted most of all by the part of the skin where green is adjacent to yellow. Look how unusual the texture is made, with dark spots, giving the very marble gradient. This knife, of course, is more of a fan, absolutely everyone will not like it, but it made it to our list for its cool texture.
Another great Karambit
This knife in CS:GO 2 is also from the “Waves” series, but only in gold color. It stands out among the others with its eye-catching pattern that stretches from the hilt to the very edge of the intricately curved blade that resembles a tiger’s claw. The pattern is oriental in style, and it is the first thing that catches the eye when looking at the Karambit.
The second plus of the knife isn’t as noticeable, but it’s worth looking at. Look just below the pattern. See the thin tapered stiletto? It looks like you’re holding not one knife, but two. Double the power to destroy and awe the enemy. Yes, it will be a pleasure to put a stray opponent on such a Karambit while rolling. But don’t look at the beauty of the blade, or like a chicken on a spit, you will be put on a spit.
Not a pretty butterfly
Like the Navaja, the knife in CS:GO 2 butterfly was a clear failure that Valve was frankly working over its sleeves on. Look at those green-colored “Waves.” They look like children’s plasticine. That’s it. There are no glowing shimmers of color, no gradient, no multiple colors on the blade. It’s just a boring green. We didn’t understand at all when we saw it, who in Valve even thought of including such a horrible unfinished skin in the game. Okay, if it was a coloring on some unpopular knife model like the Navaja, but the butterflyโฆ
The second not cute butterfly skin resembles a stormy sea wave, but only when you know it’s a Doppler coloring. We honestly thought at first it looked like some kind of exotic wriggling snake with blue-green stripes. Looking closer, we saw a poorly-understood ornament on the green color, which does not cause such emotions and wow-effect as the golden Karambit, which we described in the chapter above. All in all, another ugly knife in CS:GO 2.
A critique of the new knives
We briefly wrote at the very beginning of the post that there are players who are unhappy with the change in the appearance of knives and criticize Valve for the innovations. The exponent of the general opinion, in fact, is a former NAVI player – Ceh9 (Arseniy Trinozhenko).
He stated that the new Counter-Strike has become more similar to Valorant and from the category of men’s games moved to children’s shooters. Also Ceh9 noticed that the game engine made the colors much brighter, but at the same time skins of knives lost in sharpness. Simply put, now the knife models in CS:GO 2 are not as sharp as they were in the previous Counter-Strike.
Additional reasons for dissatisfaction are:
- ย ย A decrease in the number of colors in the coloring pattern.
- ย ย Lack of smooth transitions between colors in some skins knives.
- ย ย Loss of volumetric image in favor of brightness.
New knife models in CS:GO 2
The day after the launch of the beta test of the new Counter-Strike, 3D models of two new types of knives were found in the game files. The community of players is more interested in the so-called Twinblade – a knife whose blade is divided in the middle into two. This type of knife is not widely used, but you can order it to be made by craftsmen who will make it by hand.
There is a fairly high probability that in the new Counter-Strike it can be knocked out in the first case.
The second knife is narrow at the base and widens towards the edge of the blade. It looks a lot like a small machete used for cutting a path through jungle vegetation. It has not generated as much interest in the community as the Twinblade.
So it’s safe to say that Valve has definitely created an intrigue, we are waiting for new knives in CS:GO 2! Check out all the new skins at https://skin.land/.
