Esports Betting Vs. Online Casino Gambling: Where Can Gamers Win Big?

Online casino gambling has evolved over the past couple of years. From simple and classic casino games that have adapted to online spaces to entirely new games, giving players more ways to play and earn.

Sports betting has been around for ages and has changed over time too. Thanks to technological developments, esports betting has been increasing in popularity, becoming a new way for the younger generation to rake in wagers with their bets.

Between these two forms of online gambling, which one can give gamers bigger earnings? Let’s take a look at their differences and see from there.

Online Casino Gambling vs Esports Betting

Both online casino games and esports betting rake in billions in revenue, and increase in popularity daily. They also offer thrilling ways to win big prizes, but several differences between them can make a player prefer one over the other.

Online Casinos

Online casinos offer a virtual version of traditional casinos, allowing players to engage in games and win big from anywhere, anytime. Think of blackjack, slots, baccarat, and other games, all within reach of one’s fingertips via smartphone or computer.

Online casinos also feature live dealer games via video streaming, giving players the illusion of playing in a real casino.

Online casino gaming platforms had a surge of popularity in the last few years, bringing in billions in revenue and continuing to grow with new players joining the fold each day.

Esports Betting

On the other hand, esports betting is betting on professional video game teams or players in tournaments. It’s similar to traditional sports betting, except it deals with competitive video games such as League of Legends, Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Call of Duty, and more.

Esports betting is not entirely new, being around for more than 10 years now. Its growth over the past years is undeniable, especially with more younger people taking an interest in competitive video gaming.

Which is Better?

Simplicity

To play online casino games, all one needs is to understand the rules of the games and place bets. For esports betting, however, extensive knowledge of the game, teams, statistics, and tournament is needed to make a smart bet.

Many people who are into esports betting play the game itself or are already interested in it. Compared to casino games, there is a high-level entry barrier when it comes to esports betting, making it difficult for newbies or casual bettors to join in.

Online casino games are also more straightforward with their betting types as most of them are based on the rules of the games. For example, one has to bet between red and black, or the player and banker, or place their wager on individual numbers.

Just like traditional sports betting, players are provided with several bet types in esports betting. These include overall match winner, handicaps, exact score, amount of points, first team to do X, and much more.

Duration and Wagers

Betting on esports matches takes longer as games can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour or more to complete. The length of games lets bettors place in-game bets live, and their wagers can be as specific as they can be based on the outcome of the match.

In contrast, online casino games are fast-paced and have more rounds, providing quicker bets and actions to players.

Variety

Online casino games have more variety compared to esports betting. Sure, there are a lot of titles out there, however, most popular esports only have one main title in which players compete. If you stick to only one title, it can get repetitive and boring whereas in online casino games, there are a lot of titles that offer a variety of gameplay.

Skill vs Luck

Betting on the outcome of esports matches is purely based on the skill and performance of one’s chosen team or players. Whoever has the upper hand for the day will emerge victorious.

In contrast, online casino games are based on the player’s luck and have more randomness in short-term results.

Conclusion

Now that you’ve read all the differences between online casino games and esports betting, you can weigh your options and consider which one will be better for you to place your wagers on.

Fortunately, numerous online casino gaming platforms also offer esports betting, allowing you to dip your toes in both to see which appeals to you more.
