In a Twitter post, AMD’s Chief Architect of Gaming Solutions and Marketing Frank Azor claims that Radeon GPUs offer overall better performance value than NVIDIA’s graphics cards.
The chart as shown above lists AMD’s graphics having better overall price-to-performance according to Azor with AMD graphics cards gaining up to an 89% advantage per dollar versus NVIDIA’s graphics cards. The chart also lists a 123% performance-per-watt (FPS/watt) metric which suggests that AMD is also the more efficient card.
TechPowerUp who hosts a GPU database of performance and has performance-per-dollar metrics in their review downplays the claim as their results are not as large as what Azor published. AMD did not disclose what games they used in arriving at these averages.
As a longtime gamer Iโm grateful for the renewed competition in high-end graphics, we all win from it. As an @AMD employee Iโm super proud of what our @Radeon team has accomplished. #gamingpc pic.twitter.com/6Rs9kjG9UD
