With announcements for the new second-gen Ryzen sighted last CES, its easy to predict that AMD is prepping to follow-up on their highly-anticipated Ryzen line up processors very soon. With the Ryzen 7 debuting exactly 1 year ago, AMD is ready to lift the curtain on its second-gen Ryzen processors in the coming week. The latest sighting of the processor shows off the Ryzen 7 2700X which takes over the Ryzen 7 1700X but shows off better performance that its predecessor based on 3DMark database listings. The Ryzen 7 2700X is seen listed having 8 cores and 16 threads with a core clock of 3.7Ghz and has turbo clocks of 4.1Ghz which is 300Mhz higher than the 1700X turbo clock.
AMD’s second-generation XFR technology and Precision Boost may allow the new Ryzen processors to reach XFR speeds upwards of the specified 4.1Ghz, at 4.2Ghz which gives it a bit more performance than the previous generation. The new 12nm process also means that AMD’s die-shrink of their Zen architecture brings new power savings and frequency potential which leads to increased performance in single-threaded applications. The Ryzen 7 2700X is rated for 95W.
