Corsair is implementing what seeems like common sense by now on modern power supplies. Corsair’s new RMx Shift power supply units will have their modular connectors location on the side which on most builds, will have the modular connectors facing the rear board tray cover. This is intended to reduce cable clutter and also optimize cable placement by giving ample space for the cables to route from.
The Corsair RMx Shift is an 80 PLUS Gold PSU with 850w and 1200W currently known capacities. Connector options include 24-pin ATX, 4+4 pin EPS, 12VPHWR, PCIe power connectors and SATA power connectors. Corsair notes this PSU uses their Type 5 set connectors.
The layout is logical and leaves plenty of room on the PSU shroud area for tucking in cable. It does leave users to use the PSU in a fan-down orientation which while normal to many, is sometimes not the preferred position of some. Regardless, if Corsair’s modular plugs and cables area easy to manage, this should fit most cases with at least an inch of cable management room to spare but given the length of the power supply, it may fit better on larger cases.
