Update 12/01/2023: EKWB is releasing an upgrade kit for existing Z690 Bridge Block owners which includes new push fittings which is stated to make the Z690 block compatible with the Z790 FORMULA, which contradicts the initial content of this article or at least the original statement for EK support.

This also coincides with the release of a dedicated bridge block for the Z790 FORMULA done in white by EKWB.

I personally own an ROG MAXIMUS Z690 FORMULA in my workstation and it is custom-cooled with an EK-Quantum Momentum² VRM Bridge ROG Maximus Z690 Formula D-RGB in my loop. I’ve reached to EKWB to ask about the ROG MAXIMUS Z790 FORMULA motherboard and if the VRM Bridge is supported and I’m happy to report that support has confirmed the compatibility. As of this writing, the product page linked above is not yet update to reflect official support.

The email response is below in reply to my question:

ASUS and EKWB had an issue earlier this year about corrosion occuring on the Z690 VRM block and I was hit severely by this issue as seen below:

Corroded ROG Maximus Z690 Formula VRM heatsink/block

Thankfully ASUS offered a VRM heatsink replacement that does not suffer the same corrosion problem. But with the new ROG Maximus Z790 Formula now available, I wanted to upgrade my 2-yr old rig with the new board and a 14900K but if there was any chance to carry over my old watercooling parts, with this news it seems that I may be able to do so. Unfortunately, EK still does not support using the Direct-Die waterblocks for LGA1700 with the Z690 FORMULA bridge.
