The eSports Gaming and Summit has celebrated its third year in the gaming realm, and it has been our pleasure to experience the event in its new heights. Intense online video game competitions such Counter Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, and Dota 2. PLDT’s Home Fibr connection of course powers it up with breakneck speeds, bringing reliable and stable connection during the event. Other than providing high-speed internet connections, PLDT encouraged the gamers further to come to the event with exclusive giveaways during the weekend. Prizes from tickets to Razer products to a PlayStation 4 were up for grabs, and the crowd took to Instagram to win them.
Indie Steps It Up
ESGS 2016 was the perfect stage set for indie game developers to showcase their talents and hard work. Both local and international independent game developers took the event as an opportunity to shine on their current projects and finished games, which didn’t only offer fresh, new titles for the gamers, but also highlighted the talents in the local scene. Furthermore, Koji Igarashi himself graced his appearance at ESGS 2016 and talked about his hotly anticipated project, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Grand Titles Get to Work
Sony’s PlayStation Corner provided first glimpse once you enter the ESGS grounds. Call of Duty: Infinite War took the battle to ESGS 2016, with Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XV making demo rounds for everyone to experience a taste of what a 10-year product should be. Players also battled it out in Bandai Namco’s Tekken 7, and Sword Art Online fans had their time with Hollow Realization and the new suspense-horror of whimsy Little Nightmares.
Hardware Showcase
MSI amped up ESGS 2016 with its own slew of events from its Sudden Death tournament for League of Legends to showcasing the art of rig modding and displaying its gears of the gamers. Zotac also took the opportunity to highlight its offerings from GPUs to small form-factor PCs, with Thermaltake and HyperX bringing their products for everyone.
ESGS 2016 has been a blast, simply put. With the driving force in the gaming industry contributing to the growth of games in the Philippines, we get to see more and more of our interest brought to use in the local scene. And from here on out, it will just get bigger and better.
