Final Fantasy VII Remake is REAL!

It has finally happened: the much awaited Final Fantasy VII remake with updated graphics, cinematics, etc. is happening and is going to make its debut on Playstation 4 with other platforms following afterwards. The internet is going wild!

A day before Sony press conference, the internet was abuzz with rumors of a Final Fantasy VII remake showing up on E3 and it was finally confirmed when Square Enix showed the sizzle reel during Sony’s press con. The trailer boldly states “Play it first on the Playstation 4” suggesting this game will be a PS Exclusive for its initial run and will most likely see a XBone and PC release soon after.

An official press release has confirmed further that the game is still in development, stating that Square Enix has “begun production” of the game and from past interviews from those involved suggesting that it will take a long time to create an Final Fantasy VII remake in HD, we’re going to listen to them and just know that it will be a long ways off before we see the game on shelves finally.

Final Fantasy VII is going to be celebrating its 20th anniversary and this release is a definite commemoration of that milestone. Many fans have been fervently wishing for a Final Fantasy VII remake and an equally vocal number of people want to keep it in its original format as the nostalgia factor is so high with this game, its practically unachievable for Square Enix to satisfy everyone.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Official Press Release

At Sony Computer Entertainment of America LLC’s (SCEA) E3 press conference today, SQUARE ENIX® announced that it has begun production on the full remake of FINAL FANTASY® VII for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system.

Leading the development will be key members from the original project, including producer Yoshinori Kitase, director Tetsuya Nomura and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima.

Regardless of how the game turns out, its just nice to know its a fact. We just hope this isn’t vaporware or Square Enix’s ultimate cash grab.
