LGA1700 launched with Alder Lake and ushered in Intel’s hybrid era CPUs but despite major changes in both product and the company itself, Intel is still sticking to their 2-gen Tick-Tock cycle it seems. Leaked documents suggests that Intel’s next-gen socket will be LGA1851. Despite the increased pin count, LGA1851 may be physically compatible with existing LGA1700 coolers which should persist with the release of Alder Lake’s direct successor, Raptor Lake.
Intel’s Meteor Lake will succeed Raptor Lake and is now uncertain if it will be made on Intel 4 7nm node or TSMC’s 5nm node but Intel’s official claim is still with Intel 4 by 2023-2024 and should be the same socket used by Arrow Lake which will follow Meteor Lake afterwards.
