Intel is gearing up to expand its 14th-gen Core Raptor Lake Refresh desktop CPUs with the more mainstream 65W models. These processors, which do not feature overclocking capabilities, are expected for release on January 8, 2024. Unlike the K-series CPUs, Intel is expected to pack in their stock cooling solution within the retail package, catering to mainstream users that don’t bother with enthusiast performance from the K-series CPUs.
Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs are compatible with all Socket LGA1700 motherboards, spanning across Intel’s 600-series and 700-series chipsets. This includes support for entry-level H610 motherboards, although some may require UEFI firmware updates to ensure compatibility.
The model numbers and specifications of these processors have been known for some time and are pretty much based off what we already have (i3-14100, i5-14400, i7-14700, etc) aand placeholder listings for them have started appearing on various online stores. In the days leading up to the January 8 release, there is a possibility that retailers might open pre-orders for these new Intel processors.
