In response to a series of stability concerns reported by users of Intel’s 13th and 14th generation Raptor Lake Core processors, particularly the high-end K-series CPUs, NVIDIA has acknowledged the problems and have put in its driver notes. During my review of Horizon Forbidden West (still a WIP), the issue manifested itself as system instability with either a black screen on loading or CTD to more frequently, video memory errors as well the tyypical game crashes, or application launch failures, particularly during boot alone but also occurs during gaming.
Intel has yet to issue a broad public statement but has created a dedicated support website to assist users facing these issues. NVIDIA recommends that affected users consult Intel’s support for guidance.
Workarounds for Stability Issues: The community and manufacturers have suggested several workarounds that users can attempt to stabilize their systems:
- BIOS Settings Check: Users should check their BIOS to ensure that the CPU runs within Intel-defined specifications. Motherboard manufacturers often modify or remove power limits, leading to potential overvolting and instability.
- Intel XTU Performance Tuning: Adjust the Performance Core multiplier using Intel’s Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU). Lowering the multiplier may mitigate crashes, although it might need to be reapplied after system restarts.
- Disable Overclocking: Turn off any enabled overclocking settings in the BIOS, including AI or automatic features that may inadvertently increase system instability.
- Adjust Power Limits: Align the processor’s power limits and voltages with the Intel recommended safe ranges available on ark.intel.com.
- Reduce Clock Rates: Lower the maximum clock rate of the P core multiplier or the turbo boost clock rate in the BIOS or with XTU.
- XMP Profile Settings: Turn off XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) if instability persists, as XMP can also cause issues unrelated to the CPU.
Manufacturer-Specific BIOS Troubleshooting:
- ASUS: Set ‘SVID Behavior’ to “Intel’s Fail Safe” and disable ‘MultiCore Enhancement’.
- Gigabyte: Opt for a “Normal” CPU Vcore setting and make small increases to DVID, or adjust the ‘CPU Loadline Calibration’.
- MSI: Select ‘Offset Mode’ for CPU Core Voltage and increase incrementally, or alter ‘CPU Loadline Calibration Control’.
For detailed guidance, users are advised to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and proceed with caution, as improper BIOS configuration can risk further system instability or hardware damage.
Developer Insight on Instability Issues: RAD Game Tools has issued a statement on decompression failures affecting games built with Unreal Engine, particularly identifying BIOS settings and the high clock rates of Raptor Lake processors as the culprits behind system instability. RAD’s insights into the decompression failures can be found in their detailed dev statement.
Further Updates: As the community awaits a definitive fix, NVIDIA has published a Game Ready Driver optimized for new titles and noted a list of bugs and issues currently addressed and those remaining. For systems encountering specific errors, NVIDIA directs users to their driver feedback form.
This issue serves as a reminder of the complexities inherent in pushing the boundaries of CPU performance and system stability. Users affected by the stability issues are encouraged to consult the official support channels of their hardware manufacturers for the latest updates and solutions.

Hindi ako nagkamali.. LOL
Arafat Pokaan 3 sila hehehe and yes, present pa rin toh gang ngayon
So no choice ako kundi mag turn off and on pero this time black screen na wala na yun login screen.
Back2Gaming if same pa din after a week baka mapilitan ako mag reformat para lang ma check hahaha…
Bulok intel.
