Intel has announced plans to release its next-generation Arc Xe2 discrete GPU lineup, codenamed “Battlemage.” Arc Alchemist was launched in 2022 and much improvement has been made on it driver-wise to push performance with mostly the Arc A750 carrying the brand. News of a 2023 refresh were circling but ultimately has not materialized yet. That said, the announcement for Arc Battlemage was made in a presentation to the company’s channel partners in Japan, outlining Intel’s roadmap for the client segment in the coming year.
The presentation slide indicated that Intel’s focus areas, including PC processors, workstation processors, and discrete GPUs, will see new product launches. This information aligns with expectations of a 2024 launch for the “Battlemage” GPUs. Previous company materials had suggested that the “Battlemage” launch would coincide with the release of Intel’s “Meteor Lake” and “Arrow Lake” client processors, with “Arrow Lake” also anticipated to debut in 2024.
“Battlemage” is set to bring a linear increase in performance and introduce new hardware capabilities. The GPUs in this family are expected to be manufactured using a 4 nm-class process technology from TSMC. This upcoming release marks a significant step in Intel’s ongoing efforts in the discrete GPU market.
