Roger Chandler, VP and GM of Client Graphics Production and Solutions for Intel, recently sat down with Gadgets 360 to answer questions regarding their Intel Arc, their upcoming discrete GPU launching in Q1 2022.
The interview leaves a lot of question still unanswered as Chandler dodges much of the questions but does disclose a few things. One of which is that the discrete graphics cards we are expecting, the ones for desktop, will be available on Q2 2022 but laptop Arc graphic will arrive earlier at Q1 2021.
When asked about mining and if Intel will lock-out cryptocurrency, Intel responds by saying that it is not a priority. Chandler does state that it is not outside the realm of possibility.
As far as like software lockouts and things of that nature, we’re not designing this product or building any features at this point that specifically target miners. As far as actions we’re taking to avoid or lock them out, it’s a product that will be in the market and people will be able to buy it. It’s not a priority for us.
