X-Play Online Games Inc., in cooperation with E.G.G. (Extreme Gaming Grounds), Netopia, and Highlands Coffee, held a press launch for Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarmรย in Greenhills yesterday, March 11th. Nearly three years have passed since the release of the first chapter of theรย Starcraft IIรย trilogy,รย Wings of Liberty, and now the highly-anticipated Zerg-focused portion of the saga is finally out for Filipino gamers to dive into.
Present at the event were various key X-Play personnel to usher in the release ofรย Heart of the Swarm, such as Heidi Mendita-Garayblas, Chief Operating Officer; Ronald Allan Aquino, General Manager; and Allen Amparo, Product Manager. The launch proper included short presentations and videos courtesy of X-Play and Blizzard followed by a Q & A session headed by Allen Amparo.
Concerns raised included issues about differences between digital and physical copies, retail partners, and network infrastructure. Capping that off was the announcement of the Vengeance Cup: Philippine Nationals tournament, which kicks off in April, with the participants battling it out for a Php 250,000 prize pool. The top two winners will represent the country in the Southeast Asian finals in Bangkok, Thailand later this year.
As of this writing, the game’s servers will have been up since 9PM of March 11. So there, if you have a copy right now, you don’t need us to tell you twice to hop online and start rushing your friends and strangers alike.
