Ladies and gentlemen, it is now confirmed. Uncharted is indeed coming to the big-screen. In a post seen on Kotaku, Wahlberg confirms on MTV News that he’ll be working on the project as the movie’s protagonist, Nathan Drake.
The movie is being directed by David O. Russell who directed Three Kings and The Fighter which Wahlberg was also part of. Fans of the video game are already up at arms with the cast, specially with Mark Wahlberg being chosen as Nathan. Fans already have someone in their mind as the perfect “Nathan” in the form of actor Nathan Fillion who also expressed his interest in portraying the game’s hero.
It’s reported that Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci are being invited into the movie. The script on the other hand is being handled by Russell himself who practically showed he has no idea on what he’s adapting. Fans of the game are already skeptic on the outcome of the film, in fact, some even remembered Mark on another game failed adaptation, Max Payne.
Personally, I would’ve liked James Roday (psych) portraying Nathan since he can act the part. Nathan Filion would’ve been a good choice too but Mark Wahlberg!?
And then you have Russell as director/writer– good luck with that.

I’m not too enthusiastic about having Mark Wahlberg as Nathan Drake. I’m a real fan of the game, and based on what Mark has done in the past… I’m really hesitant about him taking the role. It’ll be better if we just get Nolan North.
either that or they should’ve gone with Nathan Filion or James Roday
Both of them should have been great. Their humor could have been spot on. I was really looking forward to Nathan Filion as the lead.
a lot of us were pretty disappointed with the update no offense to marky mark
