2K has announced that Kobe Bryant will be featured as the cover athlete for the NBA 2K24 Kobe Bryant Edition and Black Mamba Edition. The game will be released worldwide on September 8 and will include crossplay compatibility for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S.
To celebrate Kobe’s return to the NBA 2K cover, the game will feature a new mode called Mamba Moments. Players will be able to recreate some of Kobe’s most memorable performances and follow his journey from a young phenom to one of the greatest players in basketball history.
NBA 2K24 will also introduce ProPLAY, a new technology that translates NBA footage into gameplay, offering a more authentic experience. More details on Mamba Moments and ProPLAY will be released at a later date.
The game will be available in three editions: the Kobe Bryant Edition, the Black Mamba Edition, and the 25th Anniversary Edition. The 25th Anniversary Edition includes a 12-month subscription to NBA League Pass and is available for pre-order until September 10, 2023, for $149.99.
The Black Mamba Edition is priced at $99.99 and includes 100K Virtual Currency, MyTEAM content, an Option Pack Box, MyTEAM Promo Packs, a Kobe Bryant Cover Star Sapphire Card, a Diamond Shoe, a Ruby Coach, and a 2-hour Double XP Coin, among other bonuses.
The Kobe Bryant Edition is priced at $59.99 on most platforms and $69.99 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Dual-gen access is included for the Black Mamba Edition and 25th Anniversary Edition on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One platforms, meaning players will receive a version of the game on both console generations within the same console family.
In addition to the regular editions, a limited version of the WNBA Edition will be available exclusively at GameStop in the U.S. and Canada. The cover star for this edition is WNBA All-Star Sabrina Ionescu.
