We visited the COMPUTEX booth of SilverStone to check-out the new products in store for the coming months. There’s plenty of in-development items on the booth including some new chassis design and accessories.
One of the first product that SilverStone is debuting this year is the Lucid Clear View series of chassis. With the distinct characteristic of featuring plenty of tempered glass, the Lucid Clear View series includes three models: the LD01 and LD02 chassis for micro-ATX and the more distinct LD03 for ITX builds. The most noticeable feature of the LD01 and LD02 is the reverse-mounted motherboard tray which mounts the motherboard upside down, putting the expansion slots on the top-side. SilverStone’s Tony Ou mentions that mounting the GPUs on the top-side is the most optimal way of designing a microATX chassis especially where tempered glass is involved.
The SilverStone LD03 is more unique in terms of looks, adopting a tall design with tempered glass adorning nearly all sides except for the top and bottom.
The side panels on the LD03 are meant to show off all components for the build with the GPU on side and storage drives on the other side peeking through the tempered glass panels while the other two panels show off the internals and PSU of the build in the LD03. As seen above, the LD03 supports 120mm radiators on both top and bottom of the chassis with space for up to two fans on each rad for push-pull configuration.
A high-speed mini fan helps blow air out at the top of the chassis from the GPU.
The LD01 features a more robust build with the tempered glass panel featuring reinforced stainless steel braces, allowing the panel to be mounted on the case via traditional rear mounting screws. No final price has been set for the Lucid Clear View series but we were given a price estimate of around 100$ for the LD01 and LD02 models.
SilverStone has also stripped down the LD03 frame and created the SG14 mini-ITX chassis. the chassis features the same ITX motherboard tray and has a mesh front for intake.
SilverStone uses solid steel support arcs as the feet for the SG14 giving it a superior foundation which also doubles as a carry handle.
The SilverStone CS381 chassis features an 8-bay hot-swappable storage rack which supports both SATA and SAS. SilverStone includes the backplane connector for either interface and allows the hot-swap rack to operate out of the box. The front-panel is a fold-out design which conceals the bays and front I/O. A security lock is installed on the front bay for security purposes.
The 8-hot swap racks support both 3.5″ and 2.5″ drives and align perfectly with the backplane which removes the need for cables on the storage racks. SilverStone designed the CS381 with support for a 240mm radiator on the back.
Power solutions are also on display including some great shrinking achievement from SilverStone.
SilverStone’s newest 80 PLUS Platinum-rated Strider PSUs featuring dense power-per-volume with the Strider Platinum 700W having a 882W per liter. The 2000w Strider Platinum follows with just above 800w-per-liter ratio.
