VideoCardz is reporting that they have internal sources claiming that NVIDIA will be releasing a new GPU for laptops featuring 16Gbps GDDR6 memory as well as the highest base TDP we’ve seen from any current-gen GPUs and will debut as the RTX 3080 Ti for laptops.
Nothing is official as of yet, so no CUDA core count is also announced. Unlike their desktop PC counterparts, mobile parts are more tightly kept under the radar as partners will be the only ones with access to them. Internal sources close to VideoCardz have stated though that 16GB of GDDR6 as well as a staggering 175w TDP. To realize what’s so shocking about that, laptops are now entering slimmer form factors and even RTX 3080 laptop GPUs can be seen in some SKUs go upwards of only 165W. That means that a lot of modern cooling design will probably be lacking to cool a 175W mobile GPU and potentially its near 200W TDP.
NVIDIA is set to hold a launch on CES 2022 and will potentially have a slate of upcoming releases.
