There will be a tournament for Starcraft 2 players this coming March 5 which serves as the first leg in the series of tournament legs of the search for the members for the PC Express- Mobius SC2 Team. The PCX-Mobius team will be representing the country for the upcoming SEA Starcraft 2 Tournament with the PowerCup 2011 as it’s first tournament of the year.
Registration for the tournament has already started yesterday and will end come March 5, tournament day.
For those interested, here’s the low down on what you need to do:
General Rules
All players must have read and understood these rules before entering the tournament. Not understanding or not knowing the rules, are not valid excuses for breaking them.
A. Game Marshalls
- Players should always address the Game Marshalls in a polite and respectful way.
- A Game Marshall has the final say in all matters.
- Under extreme circumstances Game Marshalls reserve the right to change the rules.
B. Server
- All games must be played on the SEA Battle.net server.
- All warm up games on the tournament computers must be played on SEA Battle.net server
C. Computers and Peripherals
- A complete set of Computer is available at the venue (CPU, Monitor,Mouse, KeyBoard and Head set).
D. Game Preparations
- During a match, a Game Marshall will tell the player which computer to use.
- No usage of any tournament computer is allowed except during warm up games and tournament matches unless authorized by a Game Marshall.
- After the match the player has to leave the computer to make way for the next player, unless a Game Marshall says different.
E. Tournament Match Time
- The starting time of any tournament match is not fixed, a player should not leave the tournament premises.
- Players should arrive at least one hour prior the tournament. All players should inform that they are arrived to GameInfo which is located inside game tournament area.
- A player not in the tournament premises for the start of a tournament match will be given 15 minutes grace period, player not able to show up after the grace period will forfeit the first game of the match.
- The players are allowed a 5 minute break between the games in a tournament match.
- Game Marshalls reserve the right to change these timings if circumstances require it.
F. Disconnects and computer failure
- If a game is interrupted by a computer failure and the game is heavily favored to the extent that the game would definitely have been won by one player a Game Marshall may rule the game in favor of said player.
- If a game disconnects for another reason and the game is heavily favored to the extent that the game would definitely have been won by one player a Game Marshall may rule the game in favor of said player.
G. Complaints
- If a player wants to make a complaint about a game result, the player has to tell the Game Marshall assigned to the match, before the next match starts.
- If a player wants to object a game result ruled by a Game Marshall, this has to take place before the next game.
H. Replays
- After every game, both players must save the replay of the game, especially the winner.
- All replays need to be sent in to tournament Game Marshall after the match is finished.
- Official tournament replay packages will be made, until they are published, no replays from the tournament are allowed to be shared with the public.

- Abusing hidden/untargetable building locations on Shakuras Plateau, mainly in the lower left spawn area, is forbidden and may result in a game loss penalty.
- Every tournament game will be played on maps from the tournament map pool only.
4. The player starting the map picking process will be either decided through a Game Marshalls coin flip or randomized in advance. In a best of X match, the players remove a map from the pool one by one until X maps are left. Then the players take turns picking the map order from the maps that are left, starting from the first map that will be played.
Example: Players T and Z play a best of 3 (bo3) match
- Player Z is determined to be the first to veto.
- Player Z removes Jungle Basin
- Player T removes Scrap Station
- Player Z removes Steppes of War
- Player T removes Shakuras Plateau
- Player Z removes Lost Temple
- Player T removes Blistering Sands
- Xel’Naga Caverns, Delta Quadrant and Metalopolis are left.
- Player Z picks Metalopolis as the first map
- Player T picks Delta Quadrant as the second map
- Xel’Naga Caverns is played third
J. Punishments
- Should a player purposely attempt to sabotage the games, another player or a Game Marshall in any way, the player will be disqualified.
- Bad behavior towards other players, Game Marshalls or the audience may result in a disqualification.
III. In game rules
A. Chatting
- No excessive chatting is allowed in the game. If the need to chat occurs the players must be straight to the point and polite. Ideally the only chat in each game will be at start up and when a player surrenders the game.
- No chat is ever permitted from a player to an outside party during a tournament match, or from an outside party to the player, unless the outside party is a Game Marshall.
- Typing “gg” after 30 seconds means surrendering. If you type it the game might be considered forfeit even if you wish to continue playing.
B. Game settings
- Each game must be played in Faster mode.
- Every player must set their online status to Busy.
- Every player must turn off notifications.
- Every player must use full screen.
C. Bugs and Misuse
- No abuse of game breaking bugs is allowed in any tournament match. Normal mechanics that can be considered bug-like are naturally allowed (such as mineral walk, pylon walk). If you are unsure about some mechanics, ask a Game Marshall.
- Abusing hidden/untargetable building locations on Shakuras Plateau, mainly in the lower left spawn area, is forbidden and may result in a game loss penalty.
- No player is allowed to look at the opposite player at any time during a tournament match.
D. Observers and Streaming
- For streamed games, the two team colours must be Red and Blue. If the players cannot agree on who gets which colour, a Game Marshall will randomly pick for them.
- No observers are allowed in any tournament games, except for approved streamers and Game Marshalls.
- Players may not watch or listen to any streams of the tournament while playing.
E. Pausing
- If a player must pause the game due to technical difficulties the player must if possible tell the opponent about this before pausing. After pausing the player must let a Game Marshall know.
- If a game is paused without a reasonable explanation such as a technical difficulty the game might result in a forfeit.
F. Race picking
- The same rules for picking a single race apply for picking Random as well.
- Each player signs up to the tournament with one set race. If a player wants to change the race before a match, a Game Marshall must be notified, and the new race must be played throughout the whole match. The Game Marshall must be told at least 30 minutes before scheduled match start, or as soon as the previous match ends.
- The Game Marshall will then tell the opponent.
- As soon as a player joins or creates a game he is to choose his playing race.
Tournament format
1v1- Single Elimination: Round Matches (Bo3); Finals (Bo5)
The loser of each match is immediately eliminated from winning the championship or first prize in the event.
3v3 – Double-elimination tournament
Each team begins in the winner’s bracket, but with one loss, goes into a loser’s bracket, where they will have to play their way back.
Participant ceases to be eligible to win the tournament’s championship upon having lost two games or matches.
