Fracked is a PlayStation VR shooter that combines relentles ‘run-and-cover’ gunfights with free and fluid skiing and climbing. You play as another reluctant hero forced into a final stand between the planet and a legion of interdimensional enemies.
Wait. He fights interdimensional enemies….on skiis?
With a visual style that reminds you of Borderlands, Fracked is a seamless, fast-paced action adventure gameplay which will be experienced on-foot, while skiing, and climbing. You are equipped with an interactive arsenal including special weapons to help fulfill your action hero dreams.
According to Steve Watt, Creative Director, nDreams Ltd, Fracked is not an on-rails experience. You will be able to freely move throughout the level. You will also have cover shooter mechanics, giving you the freedom to grab environmental objects and use them to your advantage.
As the trailer shows, there will be various weapons available like the shotgun and the SMG which I noticed, requires the player to grab a new magazine and cock the weapon to fire. It is an immersive mechanic, but it can also add a layer of suspense and urgency especially with all the action happening around you.
Fracked wants to provide the player the ultimate power fantasy of embodying a movie action hero. While most video games endeavor to do just that, the VR experience allows you to actually be in the action. This game puts you in the shows of an ex-Special Forces hero and backed-up by Rosalez. I mean, that back story alone already screams “action hero movie” to me.
Watt ends by saying that the gameplay video is just a small part of the overall game. If so, then we can surely expect our action-hero fantasy to go on hopefully a long time.
